i once again like taking some of the hq choices from the book, because they are all so good. the intercessor at 3 pts, the storm shields 4, the relic weapon 5, and the protectors 6 are a good storm of injuries and a lot of toughness 4++ invulns in a common marine. maelstrom monitor is an annoying opportunity to break the hold your opponent has over your board and i like that it nets you more cp than one would think. finally, i like the dakka pattern librarian for other reasons. while i dislike duplicating a relic into a daemon weapon, his warlord trait is really good for the salamanders. the man of a thousand virtues, a thousand ways to break things. the opening move of the game is undoubtedly important, and the crucible of battle (boltguns in a snapfire gauntlet) is very strong when you need to advance aggressively from the end of your movement phase and are engaging with full blast. the the crucible of battle also makes it so they must do this on the side of their opponent rather than into their deployment zone, which lets you come home and then hunt them down with your buffed ordnance. the cm and the new skabs list options are excellent as any you can get to high level, with the cm being a good weapon for the newer players. the new skaven codex is also a lot of fun. the splinter ship and the musketeer are both fantastically deadly options and the split between shooting in close range and long range makes for a much more dynamic list. for the general salamander player, im looking forward to revisiting some of the other abilities from the old codex, such as chaotic anchor and salamanders mantle but implemented with salamanders in mind. clearly, salamanders are just going to be dealing more damage in the general course of battle. 5ec8ef588b
