as stated in the user manual, the post-processor may be thought of as providing a virtual comsol magnetostatic analysis. after opening and loading the model the post-processor is ready to work. this may be understood as follows:
the first thing to do is to define the number of conductors you wish to produce. simply highlight the conductors you wish to include in the project then press v. this creates a new conductor. conductors may be created, deleted, and renamed from the post-processor, as demonstrated in figure below.
the user is able to specify the length and cross-sectional area for the conductor by selecting from the drop-down menu. one may also specify the relative inductance of the conductor by double clicking to the left of the segmented conductor and then clicking the required value in the area below.
any conductor can be terminated by specifying an opening which may be specified by the user. the user must also specify the closed end for the conductor. one may assign a value to the closing field by selecting a value from the drop-down menu and then clicking the necessary surface. there are presently no restrictions on what may be added to the conductor.
after the conductor has been created the user may select to have the conductor be filled, which may be used to increase the conductivity of a given material. as such, it may be selected that there be no air-gap between the conductor and the body to be modeled.
the next step is to go to the 3d modeler. the file is ready to be plotted. the user may select to have a given time of data be plotted as well as having a given time interval used for calculating the magnetic field values. the former should be used to determine the magnitude of magnetic field at the given time. the user may also specify the period at which the field is to be calculated as stated in the user manual. the user may also specify the current magnitudes and directions. again, values from this list may be selected to create a set of time series data for the user to study.
